Support for Romanian cultural operators and local authorities for financing culture through Structural Funds

Following the demarches of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, the cultural field is considered to be one of the most important factors of durable development of the country for the period 2007-2013, according to the National Development Plan. As a result, starting 2007, the Structural Funds will be available for financing projects coming also from the cultural sector, in direct relation with the regional development.

For achieving this, the efforts at the ministerial level (top-down approach) must be backed up by the local and the regional initiatives in elaborating the priorities of the local and regional level ( bottom-up approach). This is achieved through a strong collabration between the decision makers at local and regional level, representatives of the Regional Development Agencies, cultural operators, civil society representatives.

In this respect, the Consultancy Centre will realize awareness and training campaigns at regional level for the cultural operators and local authorities, with the definite objective of proving the specific role of culture in regional socio-economic development. At the same time, a strong emphasis will be granted to the promotion of good practice examples from Europe and to the training services provided for the correct use of Eu funding.

The activities proposed for 2005:

Information distribution (mail, e-group, Internet)

Organising training seminars concerning the Development National Plan and the Structural Funds

know-how transfer from the European partners
participation in negociations at local level between partners about including cultural sector in the programming regional documents
organizing national/international events for the facilitation of interregional and transfrontier communication
